Day 188 The Other Shortest Verse in the Bible

We know the shortest verse in the Bible, right? "Jesus wept." But there's another verse that's just as short later in the New Testament: "Rejoice always." (1Thess. 5:16)

Interesting that these two verses that have entirely opposite meanings emotionally get juxtaposed this way. Sitting next to eachother though, they fill out the idea of Godlike joy.

Jesus, who we know fulfilled the command of Godly joy perfectly also embraced grief fully, and he asks us to do the same as his followers.

Grief and circumstances will come and go during our lifetimes, but joy that is grounded in staying connected to Jesus will remain.

It's a promise.

Love, Mom
